Celebrate the new year in true Bahamian splendor!

New Year’s Eve is rapidly approaching, and few places will be ringing in 2023 in quite so festively as the Bahamas. This warm tropical paradise is a dream destination for all kinds of travelers, from honeymooners and families to couples celebrating anniversaries and New Year’s revelers. This is your opportunity to join them and explore Exuma to your heart’s content at Grand Isle Resort.

NYE in the Bahamas

While you’ll have plenty of downtime during your stay in the Bahamas, the real attraction on this visit is New Year’s Eve, and your resolution is likely to have plenty of fun. We make it easy for you with a full schedule of events for the holidays beginning on the 29th of December and continuing through New Year’s Day.

On Friday, visit a variety of our best and brightest local artisans at the Bahamian Market on Palapa Terrace from 12 noon through 5 p.m., and then enjoy a delicious dinner from The Grill House restaurant. While you are doing that, we’ll be firing up a beachfront bonfire where you can snuggle with a loved one for s’mores and other delicious treats later on before enjoying the stars under a velvet sky.

Things really start heating up on New Year’s Eve with special menus at both Palapa Terrace and The Grill House. Following your meal, we’ll have lively music from a steel pan band and then the Junkanoo Rush, a traditional Bahamian festival with brilliant costumes, lively drums, and brilliant singing and dancing, between 9 and 9:30 p.m. When you’re ready, head back to the pool deck for our all-inclusive drinks-only bar and our vibrant NYE party at The Grill House, which will feature a live band between 8 and 10 p.m. We’ll have a live D.J. from 10 p.m. until 1 a.m. and bring in the new year with a champagne toast at midnight.

Make sure to save some energy for the next day because we’ll have a new all-day brunch menu at Palapa to re-energize and renew you for whatever adventures await you in the New Year.

New Year, New To-Do List!

Great Exuma is 37 miles long and the largest island in the Exumas. Our resort is located just 15 minutes from Exuma International Airport and is easily accessible by car or taxi, which are readily available to bring you directly to the resort, where you can spend time resting, relaxing, and enjoying everything the Bahamas have to offer both before and after your NYE celebrations. Here are a few ideas!

Exploring

While you can explore the island in many ways, ATVs might just be the easiest and most enjoyable. ATVs, or all-terrain vehicles, can take you far off the beaten path and into various nooks and crannies where cars and other vehicles cannot reach from the primary main road. You will get to see not only the pristine white beaches for which we are known but also the Garden Road, Pompey Steventon, The Cave at Exuma Point, the Flats and Sandbar, the Lighthouse Trail, and finish up at Coconut Plum Beach.

Wildlife Spotting

With its warm and wonderful climate, the Bahamas are home to spectacularly beautiful wildlife, including the Zenaida Dove, the Sandy Cay Iguanas, the Bimini Dolphins, the Eleuthera Turtles, Spider Crabs, and Inagua Flamingos. Of course, no visit to Exumas would be complete without a stop to see the famous swimming Exumas pigs!

Sun Bathing

The beaches and scenery here are unparalleled. We can help you book a half-or full-day private or group excursion to make the most of your experience as you discover the best beaches on Great Exuma, including:

  • Coco Plum Beach for beautiful shells and sand dollars
  • Stocking Island for incredible sea life and breathtaking views of the water
  • Jolly Hall Beach for brilliant blue water that is ideal for swimming
  • Hooper’s Bay Beach for a relaxed day out

The beaches are clean and welcoming, and the water is just right.
